La Maison du Procureur du Roi, the oldest house in the town, sits in elegant tranquillity in a quiet side street a few hundred yards off the main square of the small rural market town of Mirande "La Jolie". Mirande nestles in the heart of the lovely green rolling hills of rural Gers yet both Toulouse and Pau airports are only an hour and a half away. As well as the twice weekly markets this quaint small tradtitional Gascon town offers bars and restaurants and shops within walking distance. You could leave the car parked for the duration of your stay. Also within a short walk are a museum, fishing lake, sports fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, a fitness trail, a new water park with daredevil slides, pedal boats,archery and canoeing.
If you feel the need to go further afield beautiful historic Gascony offers ample opportunity for excursions. Take a gentle drive around the local Bastide towns or visit Lourdes. For the more adventurous try Walibi at Agen, Space City at Toulouse or swing through the trees at the local Acrobranche. The stunning Pyrenees are little more than an hour away and the sea at Bairritz less than two.
The house dates to the 15th century and is the oldest in Mirande, offering spacious and elegant accommodation for up to 6 adults and 4 children. There are 3 double bedrooms, a family room sleeping 6, and a bed-settee in the lounge, 2 bathrooms, 2 shower rooms and a further cloakroom. Living room and dining room offer adequate seating. It is comfortably furnished and fully equipped.
